Becoming a Workwear Industry Leader

Textile One is a German brand that was established in 2009, with a mission to help businesses manage and optimise their workwear processes.

After years of becoming a well-recognised company in their market, they decided to go a step further and enhance their online presence to become an industry leader. To achieve this challenging goal we established a long-term relationship, where we were responsible for digital strategy, user experience and user interface design, as well as development, and now, optimisation.

Experience Design

Successful projects start with a vision and an action plan. From the very beginning we worked on designing not just the digital product itself, but the customers' experiences.

01

The Challenge

Become a Market Leader

Textile One is a well-established brand with over ten years of experience in helping other companies to manage their workwear processes. Now was the time to take on a new challenge, and to become a market leader.

02

The Challenge

From Strategy to Launch

Textile One needed a partner to take care of the entire platform redesign process. Flying Bisons was responsible for discovery, strategy, user experience and interface design, as well as development, quality assurance, and optimisation.

03

The Challenge

Enhanced Digital Experience

Working together with Textile One, we reimagined the brand communication, as well as the entire platform, taking care of the customer experience, making workwear management easy and accessible to everyone.

Frankfurt: The first meeting

Our team met the founders of Textile One for the first time at the beginning of 2018. Our meeting was dedicated to discussing the initial approach to the project, defining the vision, and digital strategy for the company.

The Foundation: Discovery & Strategy Phase

At Flying Bisons we start every project with an extensive discovery phase to understand the business goals, market specifics and above all, the customer’s needs. Our design team worked with both qualitative and quantitative research to get valuable data, and turned it into meaningful insights. We did competition analysis to check out market standards, as well as the value proposition of other companies.

Information
Architecture Simplified

Together with Textile One’s management team, we decided to revamp the information architecture of their previous solution. We simplified the content and structured all the elements to reflect customer expectations. We also got rid of the redundant elements of the site to reduce the complexity and scope of the project. We also added additional elements designed ultimately to give value to the user: wizard, enhanced product designer, B2E solution.

Simplicity is the highest form of sophistication.

Reduced Number of Products

Simple and intuitive information architecture is crucial, but we wanted to go a step further. We also simplified the number of industries and products. Once it was defined, it was easier for both the company and the customers to navigate and to find the products they want. We discovered that eight industries make up 99% of Textile One’s clients. The next step was to decrease the number of products available in the store. We wanted to have only one product for each specific need, giving a unique value proposition.

Redefining the Brand Image

Experience design goes beyond digital design. Together with Textile One, we reimagined their brand image to reflect their company values and professional approach. Working with Konrad Sybilski, one of the best graphic designers in Poland, we created new branding to include multiple applications of the logo and brand visuals.

Buying textiles is complicated. Textile One is the solution.

This is all about simplicity

Customer Segments

How could we make the project more simple? During the discovery phase, we found out that most of Textile One’s clients can be divided into two categories: big enterprises and small businesses. Even though statistically some of the companies were medium size, their needs fitted perfectly into one of those two categories.

That allowed us to simplify processes and communication with the customer. We were able to shape a dual value proposition: to offer personalised consulting services for big enterprises, and to optimise and automate smaller clients that want to go through the process on their own. This approach enabled us to add value for two customer segment groups, as well as minimising operational costs.

Remarkable Content

Having defined the information architecture, we started to think about the content. We knew that professional appearance and trust are the core values of Textile One.

E-Commerce —
The Heart of the Platform

E-commerce is essential to the website for small businesses, who are more likely to buy products in the shop on their own. We decided to apply visual design with a content-first approach, to encourage users to focus on the products. Textile One provided brand new pictures for all the products in the store in lots of different colours, enhancing the user experience while browsing the offer.

All the products are easily findable through search, categories or filters. We wanted to optimise the time required to find the desired outcome. Every product was also given a rich content description to answer user’s questions, and to improve SEO results.

Configure Your Order Preferences

Even though it might seem simple, we had to spend a couple of days designing the best possible solution for the product configurator.

Since most clients order products in bulk, they are likely to order one product in many different colours and sizes. We came up with an intuitive solution that enables users to configure their order quickly.

Intuitive Product Designer

Shirt Design

Most Textile-One clients want to customise their product, by putting a logo on the front, for example.

With these needs in mind, we designed a bespoke solution based on the best possible design outcome. Our Product Designer enables users to customise the product in any way they like. As well as being an excellent feature for the customer, it minimises operational costs for the company.

Wizard & Consulting Service

For many years, Textile One has been helping companies to choose the best possible workwear solutions for them. We wanted to retain that image of a consultant and market expert. However, we were also thinking about how we could automate the entire process. We have designed a wizard that asks a couple of questions, and does the hard work for the Textile One customer support department. After a few simple questions, clients get a list of recommendations, giving them the best solutions to their requirements. In addition, customers can also take advantage of the personalised consulting services of Textile One experts.

Product Development

Development was a significant part of our work. We dedicated over 300 hours to implementing the solution that we designed.

We made the decision to use the Shopify platform, but developed a custom solution to provide a great customer experience. We worked with a Shopify expert to ensure that we were doing the best possible job by implementing the design in the fastest way, and optimising the time and budget needed for development. We were pleased to have an expert on board, and it was a great experience for Christian too.
