Proto-personas workshop is a meeting with the client, aimed at choosing high-level persons. Personas are a specific archetype of the product user presented in the form of an appealing to the imagination, description of features, cognitive skills, needs, and goals. Personas task is to show the team working on the project various user groups, and to facilitate making decisions related to the functional design and graphics interface of the product. However, it is worth noting, that proto-personas is not based on research but only on an ad hoc conception of project's potential users. Those are false, hypothetical assumptions about users, constituting a starting point for analysis and precise identification of personas. During the proto-personas workshop, their descriptions are prepared. These documents contain information about what persona wants, what they are afraid of, what they do, and how their surrounding looks like. This information helps to pre-determine how the designed product will be able to meet the users' needs and what entry barriers may be there for them.
